Wooden tool with tip in smooth agate stone, suitable for polishing gilding done with the gouache technique.

Characteristics

The agate stone burnisher is used for burnishing or polishing gouache gilding. After the gilded surface is dry and stabilized, smoothing it with the stone and applying correct pressure with the tool on the leaf, a final glossy effect is obtained. The different shapes available are used according to the surface geometry to be worked on.

Further information

For better use of the instrument, it is advisable to slightly heat the stone by rubbing it quickly on a woolen cloth before using it. Stones are very sensitive to scratches and damage, therefore they must be stored with care.
