It is also known for its soothing properties. Its healing action is due to its flowers. Helps heal any wound such as stings, bruises, injuries and herpes. Topical application of calendula is done on a clean wound and helps in tissue regeneration. It is often used for wounds that do not heal as easily as those that show redness or inflammation.
It is effective in treating burns and especially sunburn. It protects from sunlight and that is why many sunscreens contain it in their composition.
